Logging on to E-tax using two-factor authentication
Danish businesses have to use their MitID or MitID for businesses as two-factor authentication.
Non-Danish businesses and the few Danish businesses who can't get MitID or MitID for businesses have to use their E-tax password combined with a temporary PIN code. The PIN code adds additional security to the E-tax password so it works like MitID with two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication is required to log on to VAT One Stop Shop which makes it easy for businesses to declare and pay VAT on sales to all of the EU.
The fact that two-factor authentication is now required is part of an ongoing security assessment of the Tax Agency’s IT solutions. We want to provide the best possible protection of your business and your data. This is why we ask you to log on by means of two-factor authentication.
The two-factor authentication only applies to VAT One Stop Shop
Please note that the two-factor authentication only applies to VAT One Stop Shop. If you want to log on to other areas in E-tax for businesses (TastSelv Erhverv), you can do as you normally do by means of your E-tax password.
Danish businesses will have to use their MitID or MitID for businesses as two-factor authentication for VAT One Stop Shop.
If your business is registered for one of the schemes under VAT One Stop Shop, you can read more about declaring and paying VAT via the VAT One Stop Shop Scheme.
Non-Danish businesses and the few Danish businesses that can't get MitID have to log on to VAT One Stop Shop by means of a two-factor authentication that consists of an E-tax password and a temporary PIN code from any app that generates codes for two-factor authentication a so-called Authenticator App.
The temporary PIN code provides an additional layer of security to the E-tax password so it works like MitID with two-factor authentication.
